This unique workshop blends traditional Taiji stick practice with mindful flexibility training and gentle strength-building to improve balance, mobility, and inner power. There are total 18 movements with variety of way of using stick to maximize the benefits for the body. In addition, I will be guiding you through a fun warm up and share a consolidated a short form of Taiji Stick for you to practice on your own. Taiji Stick has its roots in traditional Chinese martial and health-cultivation culture, evolving from the use of long weapons such as the staff and spear in Taijiquan training. Over time, practitioners discovered that moving with a long stick greatly amplified Taiji’s core principles—song (relaxation), peng (expansive structure), spiral force, and whole-body integration—making it an ideal tool not only for martial skill but also for Yang Sheng/life-nourishing practice). In health and Yang Sheng practice, the Taiji Stick acts as an external extension of the body, helping to open the joints, stretch the tendons, and guide qi smoothly through the meridians. The added length and gentle weight encourage correct alignment of the spine, activate the waist and dantian, and train balanced use of both sides of the body. Movements are slow, continuous, and circular, promoting circulation, strengthening bones and connective tissue, calming the nervous system, and cultivating internal steadiness. For this reason, Taiji Stick has long been valued as a refined, accessible practice for longevity—combining movement, breath, and intention to nourish both body and spirit. Rooted in Chinese wisdom and designed for modern bodies, it’s a joyful, grounding way to cultivate resilience, vitality, and smooth flowing qi as we welcome the new year. The workshop will be recorded and shared with registered participants after the live session. You will be able to access for 48 hours. To register, please scroll done and make your payment. Zoom link will be send to you a few days before the workshop. Photo by Jeff Holcombe |
