You will have the opportunity to experience the ancient and powerful practice of both Yoga and Qigong during this retreat. Lorelei will teach two different Qigong and Taiji forms. One is a unique and fun Taiji Fan workshop. Taijiquan and Taiji Fan practice improves physical strength and flexibility, mobility, balance and mental and spirit well-being. This well-known Taiji Fan form is widely practiced in China to promote health. Fan will be provided. A second Qigong practice will include White Crane Soft Qigong. This form is a combination of graceful and gentle movements with a focus on internal alchemic work to generate the heart, lung Qi, as well as enhancing kidney vitality. Cat will be leading a yoga practice, focusing on simple yet powerful breath work techniques o help our energy rise from the base of our spine to the crown of our head. The physical yoga practice will include a gentle yoga flow to help build stability and strength as well as flexibility and ease in the body. Cat will also be guiding two different meditations: one a journey through the chars and another will be a yoga Nidra with intention setting and time for journaling and self reflection. There will be an extended break on Saturday to offer you time to rest and integrate our practice. You will have the exciting and special opportunity on Saturday evening to watch Lorelei perform a White Crane Qi dance with live music by Jason Smeltzer and a special treat of learning about Chinese Astrology with Mark Reinhart. Lorelei has been a professional modern dancer for decades and was part of the first modern dance company in China in the 1980s. She is truly a joyful and graceful presence when she performs. On the final day of the retreat we will integrate a grounding and deeply, relaxing yin yoga practice with Shiatsu healing as we recognize the power of being in community together. Her own practice of yoga, Qi Gong, meditation and breath work has deeply influenced how she lives and how she works with others. Cat has been integrating mind-body practices into her clinical social work and life coaching for many years and helps others to utilize coherent breathing, gentle yoga and Qi gong to help regulate their nervous system and develop powerful tools for stress management. Cat recognizes that partnering with horses in equine assisted therapy and with nature in ecotherapy allows for healing to occur in ways beyond traditional talk therapy. She uses the framework of the ancient science of Ayurveda to help people to find balance in their body, mind, emotions and spirit with a wholistic approach to daily routines and wellness. Currently Cat offers both Zoom and in person life coaching and therapy as well as Ayurvedic Mental Health and Wellness Coaching. She leads retreats and various workshops and retreats for the general population with specialties in the areas of addiction and recovery, stress management and coping skills, self-care and setting healthy boundaries. Lorelei Chang Lorelei has taught as faculty and guest at many dance schools and universities in CT includes Trinity College, University of Hartford, Connecticut Concert Ballet, GHAA, Miss Porter School, and many more. She also taught Qigong and Chinese Calligraphy at National Qigong Association’s annual conferences, Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, Omega institute For Holistic Studies, Beijing, China, Tokyo, Japan and more. She is currently offering only online classes for Qigong, Movement and Chinese Calligraphy. Lorelei is a professional member of the National Qigong Association. She is a Shiatsu practitioner trained by Nini Melvin and a certified instructor of Radiant Lotus Women’s Qigong founded by Daisy Lee. Lorelei holds deep reverence and gratitude for her many teachers; especially her mother who introduced her twin daughters to the gift of Qigong in their early teens. Lorelei’s teachers have influenced all areas of her life, and she hopes their lights continue to illuminate through her presence and teachings.
