Turtle Qigong Retreat at Omega Institute

Turtle Qigong Retreat at Omega Institute
Join Lorelei Chang for a transformative weekend where sacred movement and ancient wisdom meet in the practice of Turtle Qigong. This deeply meditative and restorative art is rooted in Daoist longevity traditions and is being taught at Omega Institute for the first time.

This special qigong practice comes directly from the family lineage of Zhang Qilong, a revered master of taijiquan, Bagua, and internal cultivation, who began sharing this treasured method only in his recent years in the US. Turtle Qigong, once kept private and reserved for culture-related reasons, is now being offered to the public through a rare and heartfelt transmission.

With deep gratitude and honor, Lorelei brings this practice forward under the blessing of her teacher, offering participants an intimate opportunity to connect with a tradition that nourishes essence, stillness, and spirit.

Through a set of gentle, spiraling movements, subtle breathwork, and profound internal alchemical methods, this practice mirrors the turtle—a symbol of longevity, wisdom, and the water element. You learn to:

Cultivate the art of hidden breath and internal quietude
Strengthen the kidney and water system, the root of vitality in Chinese medicine
Embody the protective stillness of Xuanwu, the deity known as the Black Tortoise
Restore harmony to the nervous system and awaken your body's innate healing intelligence
Utilize the "return to zero" concept in martial arts and qigong practice
This workshop is open to all seekers—whether new to qigong or seasoned in internal arts—who wish to slow down, go inward, and return to the deep well of their life force.

Come experience an authentic, time-tested path to health, vitality, and spiritual presence.

The biological clock is a “time of day cycle” which is also called “Zi Wu Liu Zhu” in Chinese. It is a law of resonance between man and nature discovered by ancient Chinese medicine sages. It is based on the overall concept of the unity of nature and man, and the concept of natural rhythm.

We modern people divide a day into 24 hours, while in ancient China people divide a day into 12 segments of time which they called “Shi Chen”, each “Shi Chen” has name and associated animal: Zi, Chou, Yin, Mao, Chen, Si, Wu, Wei, Shen, You, Xu, Hai. Each Shi Chen is equivalent to two hours length in modern times. The “Zi Wu" refers to the hour. Zi is the hour from 11pm to 1am, and “Wu” means “noon”, which means from 11am to 13pm. The words “Liu”, means “flow” refers to the state of changes in the movement of the body's qi and blood specifically refers to comparing the circulation of qi and blood in the twelve meridians of the human body. So, how does qi and blood flow in the meridians? The ancients believed that the flow was in the order of “well, ying, shu, jing, he” points.

This biological clock is an orderly connection of the rise and fall of the twelve meridians of a person in 24 hours, and through the matching relationship between the body’s internal organs and the twelve meridians. It predicts the qi and blood of a certain zang(Yin organ) fu(Yang organ) internal organs. The ups and downs of a certain hour are interlocking, and the treatment and health preservation are carried out according to the rise or decline of the qi and blood, so that the treatment and health preservation are more targeted, so as to achieve the effect of getting twice the result with half the effort.

“Zi Wu Liu Zhu”, means that the twelve meridians in the human body correspond to the twenty four hours of the day. As the time changes, the blood in different meridians also rises and falls at different times. Human beings are an integral part of nature, and their living habits should conform to the laws of nature. Modern time biology proves that human life phenomena and physiological activities have relatively stable time rhythms, including seasons, circadian rhythms and other rhythms.

Introduction to Intelligent Qigong 1-2:30pmEST.
Qi is intelligence. Ancient Chinese discovered it thousands of years ago. Qigong is an ancient and holistic healing system used for the purpose to prevent illness while maintaining good health. In Chinese mind, Qi is the substantial force for all living beings. Qigong was kept as a secret for a long time in ancient China because it’s so powerful. While we are so fortunate to be able to access this “gift” in various ways, it’s important to understand how to cultivate this beautiful art form to fully support our health.
In this course, Lorelei will be teaching one of her favorite and most practiced Qigong forms, the Intelligent Qigong, also known as Zhineng Qigong in Chinese. Zhi means Wisdom, Neng means abilities; Zhineng together means ability to accumulate the energy of intelligence and increase one's level of wisdom. Intelligent Qigong was created by Master Pang He Ming. He created Zhineng Qigong based on the Hunyuan theory and Traditional Chinese Medicine meridians of the body. It's a form of medical qigong combined with Buddhist and Daoist qigong. In 1997, out of 21 different types of Qigong, Intelligent Qigong was rated the most effective qigong to improve health by the China State Sports General Administration. It's one of the most practiced Qigong forms in modern time.

Lorelei has been practicing Qigong and Taiji Quan for more than 30 years now. Intelligent Qigong is one of the Qigong forms that she practices religiously everyday. It’s also one of the most effective Medical Qigong forms that help her heal her dance injuries. With over 40 years of dance experience along with her knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element Shiatsu, all have helped Lorelei understand Intelligent Qigong and Taiji Quan to a much higher level. She is excited to share this ancient Qigong and Taiji Quang practice with all. Participants will learn: Zhineng Qigong and Taiji Quan theory, basic Yang and Chen styles break-down movements, Intelligent Qigong level 1, “Lift Qi Up Pour Qi Down” form, and all related acupuncture points along with breathing technique and meditation.
My purpose of teaching Qigong is to help people stay health while honoring my ancestors and culture. This beautiful ancient art form is meant to be shared with all and to reduce human sufferings and keep all of us in vibrant health.

Here’s the outline of the course:

-What is Intelligent Qigong

Introduction to Meridian Qigong 1-2:30pmEST.
Chinese discovered thousands of years ago that our body has energy channels what they called Meridians. There are twelve primary meridians and eight extraordinary vessels in the human body. Nature's rhythm influences the meridians flow and It is called the Zi Wu Liu Zhu, biological clock and also known as a time of day cycle.

White Crane Qigong with Lorelei Chang

The White Crane Qigong is part of the whole White Crane system, which includes a martial arts system and both soft and hard White Crane Qigong. It was first developed by a woman named Fang, Qi Niang in the 17th
Century A.D. She had learned a Crane style from her father who practiced that form which came from Shaolin Monastery. The legend has it that she observed cranes at the riverside and combined those moves with her father's Crane style to create White Crane.
Lorelei learned the whole system with her dear friend, a Qigong teacher, John Platt. This beautiful form contains total 96 movements which combines with the movement of hands, wrists, torso, head, arms, legs and entire spine work. As you diving this practice, you become the white crane, the softness of whip movements of arms and spine bring you to the state of ease.

In this six-month online course, Lorelei will be teaching you a set of Zi Wu Liu Zhu meridian qigong that she designed based on these principles and ideas, explaining the close relationship in between the nature of our mini universe of our body, mind and spirit and the large cosmos. She hopes that with these wholeness approach will help you understand how closely integrate with nature and resonate at the same frequency to help us absorb energy from nature to support our vitality.
