dancEnlight's 10th Summer Intensive
For Teens, Adults & Professionals
First week August 6 10, 2018 (cancelled)
Second week August 13-18, 2018

This is the first year that we integrated Summer Intensive with public performance at the Dragon Boat Festival in Hartford on August 18th. All summer intensive students are eligible to participate in the event with no extra fee. We continue to strive our best to provide our students the extensive dance experiences and opportunities to expose them to the variety of culture and the world of dance! Please see more details on dancEnlight's website. All students are required to audition in order to participate in our Summer Intensive. Students who participate in the performance must attend all the rehearsals.

This unique program was designed with a refreshing and innovative approach combining both western and eastern philosophies and introducing different disciplines and art forms. Classes help to expand the knowledge and vocabulary of dance, and use other art forms to inspire and advance the quality of technique and performance skills. The Intensive offers a wide variety of classes such as Ballet, Modern, Yoga, Chinese Classical Dance, Taiji, Meditation, Improvisation and Composition, Repertory, and Site Specific.

We will be accepting a limited number of aspiring dancers, ages 12 and above. Audition is not required for Adults and Professionals.

Registration fee: $20
One week Summer Intensive: $375;
Two weeks Summer Intensive: $695
Early registration for two weeks, pay by Wednesday, May 31, $650
Early registration for one week, pay by Wednesday, May 31, $355
Drop in: $18, 1 hour length class, $20, 1.5 hours or longer length class, $10, 1/2 hour length class. $180 for 10 class card

Guest teacher:

Rose Flachs, the director of the Academy, have danced professionally with the Nashville Ballet, Ballet West, and the Cincinnati Ballet. She currently are Associate Professors of Dance at Mount Holyoke College and guest teacher with the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet. She has studied the Vaganova method of training with John White, author of Teaching Classical Ballet and Margarita de Saà, and have traveled to the National Ballet School in Havana, Cuba, to further their studies.

She has been guest artist and teacher at Jacob's Pillow, Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet, Columbia College, University of Georgia, University of Wisconsin, and the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music. They have also taught for the Southeast Regional Ballet Festival, the American College Dance Festival, and have choreographed and staged over 50 ballets for university dance departments and regional ballet companies.

Guest Musician:

Charles Douglas Yaeger started studying music at age 9. He played Drums and percussion in all elementary and high school bands. Mr. Yaeger attended Central CT State University as a Music Education Major. At the same time he played in a multitude of bands performing throughout New England and the Northeast. Mr. Yaeger taught Drum lessons for many years, as well. He studied Mallet instruments for 6 years, then went on to studying ethnic music and rhythms. He has studied African a d Middle Eastern Drumming. I've studied Sound Healing for several years, becoming Certified 4 years ago. Mr. Yaeger currently enjoys Performing and recording music for Healing and Meditation as a therapeutic modality. Mr. Yaeger love of music is unending as he walks his path on his journey through life.

Dance Multi-Arts
A brand new program for students ages 6-11
Dates August 20-24, 9am to 3pm

This is our first year offer all day youth camp and it's a brand new program which we are extremely excited about it. "Dance and Arts”, share common thread. Lorelei has designed this program to help our students expand their horizon, allow them to use their imagination and creativity as a powerful tool to help themselves in dance, at the same time develop students' lifelong appreciation to the arts. Classes will be taught by Lorelei Chang, internationally renowned performer, Chinese calligrapher and artistic director of dancEnlight, and her company members. We will work with our students side by side, to help them create a mini-production inspired by their original art work. All art supplies are included.

Registration fee: $20
$345 for the entire week (All supplies are included). Early registration by May 31, $325
